Spring Sightings of Monarchs and Milkweed - 007
Spring Sightings of Monarchs and Milkweed - 007On May 5th I saw a Monarch butterfly in my own backyard. I was very excited to but not entirely surprised. The only change my yard has had from the previous year is the addition of milkweed. Plants in the asclepias family attract monarchs. Have you seen any monarchs this year?
Science is looking to answer the many questions that are out there about monarchs. Sometimes it seems that more is unknown than know about the beautiful insects. A new project seeks to determine how a monarch butterfly uses the hundreds of oil platforms that dot the Gulf of Mexico. Marine Monarchs is funded thru generous donation's including a match by Monarch Watch.
Milkweed is growing as the weather warms. Flowers are begining to bloom and the Spring migration of monarchs is reaching the Northern United States. Visit Journey North to view the Monarch Butterfly Migration Spring 2015
